So Mr. Chalk is a scribble, trapped in a hell hole. Lava, fire-spitting gargoyles, and guillotine blades are just the most obvious threats. What's more insidious is the false platforms, that convince you to jump out over a pit when there's nothing to land on.

As a game, Mr. Chalk is just as much of a scribble. It's a rough idea dump, and clearly one of James Faux's earliest experiments. It's playfully perverse, in a sense that will come into fruition in games like Mortal Harvey.

Aside from the ha-ha deaths there are the odd and wacky sound clips and the curious control scheme. At no point does Mr. Chalk require the player to roll left or right, and neither does the move make the game easier to play. The move seems to exist entirely to allow the game to play a sound clip mocking the theme song to Rawhide.

Mr. Chalk consists of just the one level. There is nowhere to go and nothing to do, and it doesn't look like there was any intention of extending the game. That it was uploaded to the Frontline BBS in this state suggests a certain level of completion.
